This page describes the processing of personal data carried out by the Movement for Patriotism and People’s Prosperity (MP3) through its site and its membership space. It completes the legal notice.
Who is responsible
The controller is MP3, B.P. 1427, Douala, Cameroon. The publication director is Hiram Samuel Iyodi, national president.
The national secretariat handles the records day to day: memberships, supporters, messages, the letter, dues and gifts. To exercise a right, write to contact@mp3cameroon.cm, or by post to the seat.
The framework
Processing is governed by Law No. 2024/017 of 23 December 2024 on the protection of personal data in Cameroon. That law creates a Personal Data Protection Authority. It requires a precise purpose, accurate data, a limited duration, and security measures.
The party does not sell the records. It does not pass them to a party, a candidate or a company for prospecting. It sets no advertising tracker.
What is collected
Membership
The membership space asks for what is needed to open a member record: first name, last name, gender, age range, telephone, country, municipality, federation, and how the person heard of the party. Depending on the step, it may also ask for the sector of activity, the networks where the person is active, and an interest in a working committee.
When a photograph is requested for the membership card, it is optional. It is used only to produce that card. The secretariat may complete the record with the membership number, the status of the card and the history of updates.
Supporter
The form asks for the name, the telephone and the country, a message, and an email if one is given. It keeps contact with a person who has not yet taken a card.
Contact
A message to the secretariat includes the name, a way to reply (email or telephone) and the text that was sent.
Letter
Subscribing to the letter asks only for the email address and the chosen language (French or English). The address is stored in lower case. A new subscription with the same address updates the language, without creating a second record.
Dues and gifts
The form asks for the name, the telephone, the amount and, if they are given, the email and the membership number. Payment is made online by Mobile Money (PawaPay). The party and its payment provider do not record the mobile account secret code.
Why
- to record and follow a membership, attach the person to their federation, and prepare the card;
- to reply to a supporter or to a message;
- to send the letter only to people who subscribed;
- to keep the account of dues and gifts paid online;
- to know who, at the secretariat, published or changed a piece of content.
The basis of the processing is the consent given by sending the form and, for members, the carrying out of the membership. The data is not reused for another purpose.
Who can see it
The records are available to the national secretariat, according to each person’s task: memberships, federation, communication, treasury. Access to the desk is through a personal account. The action log shows who published, changed or removed a piece of content. It does not contain the member file.
Providers may receive part of the data, for a limited task:
- Brevo, to deliver the letter. The address is passed on only for that sending. Each recipient receives their own message and does not see the other addresses.
- PawaPay, to collect dues or a gift by Mobile Money. The name, telephone and amount needed for payment are passed on for the duration of the operation.
- YouTube, when a page shows a player. The player is called in restricted mode. Starting the video may pass the visitor’s network address to YouTube.
- Google, for the map on the Contact page. Showing the map may pass the visitor’s network address to Google.
A link to WhatsApp, Facebook or Instagram passes data to that service only if the person chooses to open it.
How long
- Membership: for the life of the membership, then for as long as the party’s obligations require (card, dues, a dispute). After that, the record is deleted or reduced to what must still be kept.
- Supporter and contact: long enough to reply and to follow up, then deletion.
- Letter: until the address is removed. Removal is requested at contact@mp3cameroon.cm.
- Dues and gifts: for as long as the party’s accounts must be kept.
- Secretariat log: for as long as needed to trace a publication.
Your rights
You may ask the secretariat for:
- a copy of the data that concerns you;
- the correction of an inaccurate item;
- deletion, when keeping it is no longer necessary;
- a limit on the processing, while a check is made;
- to object to a sending, in particular the letter.
The request states the name, a telephone or an email already known to the party, and, for a member, the membership number if one was issued. The secretariat may ask for something that confirms it is writing to the right person. It replies within a reasonable time.
A person under eighteen should not send data without the agreement of their parents or representative, as the law provides.
If the party’s reply is not satisfactory, a complaint may be sent to the Personal Data Protection Authority established by the law of 23 December 2024.
Cookies
The public pages set no advertising cookie and do not measure the audience with a third-party tracker. A session cookie is set only to keep a secretariat account signed in. It is not used to follow visitors.
A hidden field in the forms filters automatic submissions. It does not hold a fact about the person.
Security
The records are kept in the party’s database, separated by use: identity, membership, organisation, finance, content, log. Access to the secretariat is by name. Passwords of secretariat accounts are not displayed. No method is absolute: if an incident exposes data, the secretariat informs the people concerned and the competent authority when the law requires it.
Updates
This page is changed when the site starts to collect a new item of data, or when a provider changes. The date at the top of the page is then moved forward.
